Tuesday 12th

Last full day.

Today we decided to visit the Basilica before walking in the opposite direction to visit the market hall.

As we entered the market hall I stepped forward before taking a picture and as I did so a man walked past and pushed me on my upper arm. I was a bit taken back at first but then became quite incensed.  Further into the hall I came across him and decided to confront him and told him to use words and never push or touch me. Ironically, he happened to be English ( thinking about it after had he not I’m not sure I would have got my point across).  I am the most unconfrontational person there is and my friend had witnessed my finger wagging with astonishment although told me she was proud that I had stood up for myself :-D. Mr C was ready to go and push him back but that is not the answer and just bringing yourself down to their level.  I appreciate if people get frustrated if someone stops in front of you but I had stepped forward after looking around me but you do NOT push anyone and say something instead.  I have to say that threw me for quite a while after.

We went back to the hotel for a rest before joining our evening cruise along the river.  We booked a dinner cruise before we came away and had a lovely time going up and down the river.  However, it was the turn of J to have a bit of a moment.  She has quite high standards when it comes to service, food, wine etc and was getting quite frustrated at things…. They forgot the ice … although they did stop on one of the return journeys to pick some up, so wines/beers were not chilled. The food wasn’t particularly warm and then towards the end of the journey they offered coffee before the desserts had arrived because they were trying to get it all out before we docked back.  She then felt her husband didn’t back her up when the manager came even though he was oblivious as he was chatting to the man on the next table.  Standing out on deck it just got too much and she shed a tear.  In the meantime, the manager had spoken to S who confirmed what J had been saying was true and they kindly took the bottles of wine off our bill.  I understood her frustration but I know Mr C and I would have just gone along with what was served and enjoyed the evening.  The scenery was lovely though and we still enjoyed ourselves.

What a day :-D))
