Katie's early night meant a very early rising. 4.45 to be precise. It wasnt even daylight. "When will it be not dark, Mummy?" she asked me. WHEN ITS NOT THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT!!! .... Mummy wanted to reply. As I tried to dose, she gently prodded Mummy. "When are you going to wake up, Mummy?" WHEN ITS NOT THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT!! I still wanted to reply. Instead, she lay on my tummy with her arms tight around me and her head on me. We cuddled like that, not for very long though. She then wanted a bath. We've had a major turn around. She's always loved it once in the bath, but went through a brief not liking the initial doing it. Now, every day she's happy to dive straight in almost first thing.
Today I picked her up early from nursery. When I arrived, she was laid on her back in the home corner. Her tshirt was round her neck, she had her head in a cowboy hat and a velvet cape across her front with four of her friends around her. They had apparently been playing doctors a very long time. As soon as Katie stood up to come to me, someone else took over the patient role! It was lovely to see them all playing so well.
I picked her up early as we were heading to meet an old school friend of mine who's visiting from New Zealand. She brought all her brothers, their girlfriends and their mum and dad for a few family photos in Peasholm Park in Scarborough. We enjoyed a walk round, Katie chatting from the carrier. On the way there, she was sat singing to herself to some music I'd downloaded to my iPhone for her. She was happy to go from snuggly cuddles on the train to back snuggly cuddles in the meitai. She had a nice run in the park after photos before we headed to the train. We had time to get a treat so she chose a Peppa Pig and friends magazine. I love that these can occupy a full train journey and still be fun when we get home. It was lovely to have her with me this afternoon. She always does me proud when she comes out with me like that. We had a happy train ride home, a quick stop at the shop and home for supper. A good afternoon!
