Today's the day ....................... for a birthday party

If he had still been alive, it would have been Edward Atkinson Hornel's 158th birthday today.

So, nothing daunted, The Friends of Broughton House & Garden (his erstwhile home in Kirkcudbright) put on a party for him anyway.  It was the perfect evening for birthday cake and prosecco in the garden - and to be entertained by a trio of violins, namely Jane and Wilson Hainey and Fraser Hannah.

An excellent way to mark the occasion ...................
