Akköy and beyond
Really it's impossible to choose just one photograph for today but I tried making a collage and didn't like that either! So, one pic and some extras later......
After the usual delicious breakfast, well, brunch really, Robin and I toured the area as we like to do, exploring hamlets and old dwelling places that are so very photogenic in their unfortunate demise. Today's main pic was taken in Akkoy - one of about 25 photos that I took in this picturesque venture in to times gone by. There were some locals around but it seems the village is largely unoccupied now. Deterioration of buildings, falling rocks and higher expectations of living standards in the C21st means that many of these villages are partially abandoned and in sad decline as young folk move to the city in search of easier living, leaving behind a way of life that belongs to a different time and generation.
After Akkoy we stopped at 'three sisters' rocks for another photo where we found a nursing woofer and her puppies. Fortunately, Robin and I are traveling this region of Turkey with a 15kg sack of dried dog food and several bottles of water so our canine friends had a nice snack.
Deciding we also needed a snack we drove to Mustafa pasa to eat at Eleni's, passing a group of horses on the way. Once back at the hotel it was a quiet and relaxing evening.
