Hanging On

We abandoned our intended trip to the caravan a couple of days ago, far too hot for that and I doubt our tomato plants would have survived our absence in this heat.

This afternoon I updated the firmware on my camera (I always have to remind myself of the various stages) and having (eventually)succeeded went into the back garden to check all was OK. That led to me looking at our bee hotel and seeing the character in the extra. After a lot of checking I think it’s a species of sharp tailed bee. They are crypto-parasites on leaf-cutter bees. She’ll use her sharp tail to cut open a leaf cell and lay an egg which will hatch next to a ready meal.
