Grey Heron

The older female was first over this morning (well the crows were first), One of the crows landed on the fence so I took a moment to feed it a bit of pollock, which it took from my hand. When I turned round the young one had landed beside the older female and was going through their greeting ritual. I started feeding them when a juvenile gull showed up (not sure if this is random or the same one as yesterday. It managed to snatch a bit from the older female who was not happy! I then made my way round to the clearing where the very young heron (the new one) had just landed. Unfortunately before I could feed it anything the male landed letting out a real screech which saw off the young heron. I fed the male then headed for home.
This afternoon I thought I would go in the other entrance and see if I could get a chance to feed the youngest one. It worked he was there on his own and, whilst a bit nervous he had a good feed of sardine. I then made my way towards the front of the loch. On my way round I spotted the young one had just landed amongst the trees. I gave her sardines then made my way back to see if the male was around. I got past the clearing when I spotted a heron at the centre of the loch, it stretched it's neck and looked over so I stopped. Then very slowly it started walking over. It was one from yesterday (I thought it was a male but am sure now it is a female) when it reached the midway point I threw a bit of sardine and it ran to collect it. after that it was right over and had a fair feed on what I had left. So it was 3 regulars today and two new ones.
