The Hoe from the Tamar Belle
Lovely Sunday! Weather hot and sunny with a sea breeze. Joint service at 10.00 during august with the 9.30 and 11.15 services joining each other and the sermon today was on Psalm 133 which was all about unity! The point was well made by Joe, our rector who would love to have a joint service every week! The sermon is always the same for both services, just the styles are different! The first service uses the liturgy and has the organ and choir and and has communion every week! The second service is all about the youth and has a band and a screen overhead and has communion once a month! There are childrens groups to attend! Needless to say the older age range prefer the early service and the younger demographic the 11.15!
There is an evening service which is also a band service and caters for students but has a cross section of all ages with communion once a month. I didn’t go this evening as I went down the sea for a dip with Sian and Ian and Molly . Sian is off to france with the dogs in the camper van tomorrow for just short of a month! I was going to go and meet up with her for a couple of days but I have had to send my passport for renewal to make sure it has more than six months left when I go to Israel in November! Fingers crossed it is returned to me before I go!
After church I met up with Nima and we walked to the Barbican to check on the time for the ferry to the William yard. We had a one and a half hour to fill so we walked round the Sea front then up to the Hoe to be surprised by the sight of hundreds of motor bikes filling the entire area! It was an impressive sight.
On the way back to to the ferry we had an ice cream which was very filling and delicious! Looking back at the beach from the ferry was an extraordinary sight with so many people either sunbathing or in the water due to the extraordinary weather we are having! Once in the William yard we went for a drink and a bite o eat in the real ideas cafe! That is I had a pot of mint tea and Nima had a cappuccino and a cheese and cornichon sour dough roll of which I had a small sliver! The cornichons were delicious and fresh tasting and the cheese was super abundant string cheddar and delicious! Their cheese on toast is one of the best I have ever had! Having bought the Volkswagen Golf 2018 car Nima has discovered the buses so chose today to use the bus as we were just in Plymouth. Next weekend will be out of Plymouth so she will use the car!
