Loch Achilty
Backblip
The weather wasn't so great in Badachro, so looking at the forecast, the nearest Loch with good weather was at Loch Achilty, where we went on Tuesday. The drive to it is about one hour but the scenery is su It was much busier today, lots of families enjoying the sun and out on the water. Found a spot to sit and spread out the blankets, no chairs as there was no spare area in the car for them! Roofbox and boot full. Well we did have two paddle boards, the life jackets, paddles and everything for a week away.
The boys went out first and off they went to the island in the middle. I got changed and had a lovely paddle over away from the shallow bit where all the kids are. We had a great time again here it's such a brilliant spot for wild swimming and really any water sports.
Headed over to Strathpeffer again for ice cream. Ben arrived at our table at the Deli in the Square with a massive bubble waffle with ice cream and sauce from the pavilion cafe across the road. It was delicious. we had coffee and cake and cameron had a tiny tub of mint choc chip compared to Ben's giant waffle.
Bought some croissants for breakfast tomorrow and headed on back to Badachro for some freshening up and then a walk down to the Inn for another meal there. This time we booked the little fisherman hut for our meal. It was so cool, decorated with sea themed stuff and it has a heater if you need it and also it's own sound system. We put on the Beatles and even managed a sing song :-) the hut overlooks the bay so stunning views. Butttttt, the midges arrived so we had to close the doors, glass doors though so still had the views.
We all chose different fish dishes, delicious fresh fish probably landed today as he had to check if my langoustines had been delivered. We had great chat and plenty laughs.
Cameron's last night with us, he's off to the Youth Hostel at Rattigan near Lochalsh so we played Ticket to Ride when back at Ross House and away to bed exhausted!
