Burn

A close up shot of the new weed killer in action. It all slotted together reasonably easily, the instruction manual almost made sense (you get the impression that it was not originally written in English!) and, after a warm up procedure worthy of an F-15, Mrs C proceeded to attack the weeds down the side of the drive and along the garden path.
Two problems sprang to light. Firstly, our drive is longer than our extension lead - the weeds at the top will escape execution until I can dig another lead out of my gig box. Secondly, a weird smell suddenly reminded us that there is a plastic, weed proof membrane under the path. Patently, it is not fulfilling its primary role so I’m not too bothered if it gets burnt away. But I would prefer to avoid a full on conflagration so a restrained approach to burning the weeds is in order. As you can see from the picture, they pretty much wilt straight away, but the manual advised they won’t fully die off for a couple of days. Well, we’re away all next week, so we’ll see what it looks like when we get back.
In contrast to the laziness of the last couple of days, I’ve managed to fit a lot into today - probably because I hate going away knowing there are jobs outstanding. So, a gym visit followed by a quick coffee before lunch and then ironing, gardening and lawn mowing this afternoon. Even caught up on several days worth of emails.
Somewhat tired now, but at least those things won’t be niggling away at the back of my mind whilst I’m away.
