Only one birthday in the end

Mine. Had a nice low key day with one of my oldest friends  (as in many years of friendship). And a meal out in the evening in a cafe that is filled with plants and is a very attractive place to sit.
The second chrysalis was ready to burst open, as you see, for the butterfly to climb out.  You can clearly see the wings, the furry head and thorax, and you can see how the chrysalis was attached to the wall. It was quite a chilly day, perhaps it has the knowledge and capacity to wait for it to be a bit warmer.  It did wait till the following morning - we went out for a walk, and when we returned, it had climbed out, dried its wings, and flown away.  So sad to miss it.
