Maggie's Tour

Today's the day ...................... to play a part

We had the pleasure of joining in a different sort of town trail in Kirkcudbright this evening which involved an entire cast of starring actors (see extra)..  

It was called Maggie's Tour  and it was set in Kirkcudbright as it would have been in the year 1651.  Maggie was a little old lady (third from the left in the extra) and she introduced us to all the other characters as we walked through the streets of the town.  The woman shown above was a rather dubious midwife/witch.  She gave a real insight into her life - and the lack of any sort of rights or status of most females at this time.

It was all done with a great deal of humour - and a surprise round every corner which kept the sixty or so participants on the tour well entertained.  It was such a good way to learn about the history of the town - and indeed the rest of Britain - at that time .....................
