RAF Coltishall

This is where I was earlier today. I'm not sure what this tower was used for - I thought it was the water tower but that's further along the road. I'm hoping that Martin might be able to tell us as I know he was based there a dozen years ago.

This airfield played a major part in WWII and a number of famous fighter pilots were based there including Douglas Bader and Bob Stanford-Tuck. It was then a key Cold War base equipped with the latest jet fighters including the Javelin, Lightening and Jaguar.

It's no longer an airfield but many of the original buildings remain including the Officer's Mess, some hangers, the water tower and accommodation blocks.
