On the nest

After a hectic visit to the island I popped in to Elmley Marshes for some relaxation. Lots of birds around including a yellow wagtail which looks rather like a posh budgie. Lapwings are nesting so whenever a marsh harrier passes over they fly up and swoop at it to keep it away from the nests. There was a redshank right against the path, it was sifting through the water for food but today you've got this elegant lady. Swan's nests are enormous, as you can see, and she was rearranging the nest around herself in the early evening sun.

Not a bad way to spend a bit of time.
