River Walk
After my hair appointment we went down to Cramond to walk along the River Almond, via lunch at Craigleith - missing the café in Sainsbury's we ate in M&S. Attired in wellies, in case the path was muddy, we wandered down to the river.
Alongside the mooring we noticed someone rowing a dinghy - and recognised the rower as an old colleague of Mr Flum! A had returned his boat in readiness for craning on to dry land for the winter and, having dragged the dinghy up the slip (extra photo) and stowed it, he joined us in a walk, catching up on family news and occasionally talking 'shop' - although both of them are retired they still have opinions on current issues.
We walked as far as the weir and were all thrilled to have a good sighting of a kingfisher, A telling us that, despite his familiarity with the area this was his first sighting on the river. There was also a heron, but they're not so special! As we returned this lovely rainbow stood directly behind our view of the tied-up boats, perfect for my Blip.
We gave A a lift along the coast back to his car and were on our way home when thunder rolled and the rain began but nothing like the monsoon proportions of yesterday and short-lived.
