Wednesday: The Legendary Beehive

Thank you for all your concern over Barney yesterday.  We think we have made some progress and now have a plan in place.  It’s far from ideal for Barney but it’s the best we can do so watch this space.

I had a very satisfying and exciting couple of hours this afternoon.  I had a session with a personal shopper at Fenwicks who has helped me establish a wardrobe for my next job.  I do have a work wardrobe but not one that was suitable for a much hotter climate.  I’ve got some excellent things, including some items I wouldn’t have naturally chosen for myself.

The whole experience was very tasteful and discreet.  It was in a separate suite in the department store and we were served Prosecco while I shopped.  K and Aunty C came as my personal advisory committee - they loved the whole thing.

We met up with Uncle D. afterwards and went for a few drinks and something to eat.  We started in the fabulous ‘Beehive’, a real Newcastle institution.  It used to be known informally as the Squishy Bar as it was such a squash to get in, particularly at the weekend.  Geordies are nothing if not inventive with their terminology!

Rather impressively we managed not to leave any of the shopping in any of the pubs.
