Pagan

Last day of our wee break today.  It's no trip to Aviemore without seeing the reindeer.  For the first time in over a decade I got to meet my adopted reindeer - Pagan - who was hanging around the fell after coming back from the summer free romaing a few days earlier.  The blip is of her having a good scratch.  Pagan is a 'character' with some 'bad behaviour' which we witnessed  in the form of kicking other reindeer but thankfully today no people.  Apparently when we last visited in 2019, she had taught her calf to front kick people to get them to drop the food...so she's that kind of reindeer.

Also caught up with Euan's Reindeer Texel who had a pure white stunning calf too, so those pictures will be on their way to the family chat shortly.

We've adopted reindeer for 28 years (thanks mum for keeping it up!) and I always feel like a small excited child again every time we go see them.  The walk seems a lot quicker now though!  The herders were wonderful as ever and we even picked up a copy of their naked charity calendar this year at mum's request - one of our herders was on the cover!

After spending time with the reindeer, we headed up the mountain for lunch in the Cairngorm cafe before heading home.  Feels great to be able to get up to hills in a few hours. Will definitley be staying at Badaguish again for some more long weekends and regular Reindeer visits I think!
