Exploring York
Today we went on a Yorvik Yomp devised by Ian, the Master of our Livery company, who grew up in and around York. He had devised a route around the city with 12 questions to answer based on the places we visited. It involved us walking on most of the walls.
My view of York Minster was taken while we were walking on the wall just after noon when the bell was tolling 96 times (at 30 second intervals) to commemorate the passing of the Queen.
The extra is of Holy Trinity Church on Goodramgate , with its unusual box pews. Our question was "Who famously took their union sealing sacrament here?" The answer was Anne Lister and Ann Walker. (The church and their story featured in TV 's Gentleman Jack series.)
Later, our group had tea and tour at Merchant Adventurers' Hall .
In the evening we had dinner in the Mansion House.
