Local Walk
After watching the Queen's funeral we decided to do a local walk from the cottage, The walk was based on a rights of way map we found, but it was obvious that not many people used the route regularly!
The first section was in the grounds of the country house we're staying near, and that route was very overgrown in places.
Once we got onto the public paths there were some yellow arrows, but sometimes we had to make it up as we went along. We were often being stared at by cows and sheep, wondering what we were doing there.
There was a section where we were apparently meant to cross a stream, but the bridge was out (literally - it was upside down beside the path) and the undergrowth didn't seem very inviting. Getting across a stream is one thing, but doing it while you can't see where you feet are is asking for trouble! After a slight diversion we ended up back on the expected route, and were back in time for dinner.
We watched the later service and procession later in the evening.
