Where Were You….

….On the day of the EIIR State Funeral?

I have always loved the sea, being on the water, I guess that’s what eighteen months at a Merchant Navy training school followed by thirty-four years in the Royal Navy will do.
So where better to be at the time of the funeral than with my fellow military veterans on the water, in the gig, out in the Carrick Roads.
When the time came we raised our oars in salute and toasted “The Boss” with a glass of port.
Such a sad time but a fitting farewell to our Commander-in-Chief.
A post row beer before heading home rounded off the early part of the day.

I caught up with the TV coverage when I got home.

A momentous day, the end of the Elizabethan age and the start of the Carolean age.
