The End of the Coffin Road

Our final walk was ,due to prevailing weather conditions , slightly shortened. But still a rugged 4 miles up and down and along the Coffin Road to Seilbost, with the salt marshes and beach beckoning in the distance. The Coffin Road was originally used to take islanders from the rocky east to the fertile west, where peat was dug out and mounded over the coffins in the cemetery. https://www.visitouterhebrides.co.uk/blog/read/2020/09/the-coffin-road-b38

We then spontaneously travelled to the shed of the legendary weaver Donald John Mackay ( his tweed has been used by Nike for trainers ) to buy lengths, after the coach driver gave him a ring , https://www.scotsman.com/news/harris-tweed-goes-trendy-big-order-nike-trainers-2512383

Eventually the beautiful and famous ( Losgaintir )Luskentyre sands came into view. Spectacular!
By then the rain and wind had finally arrived! Now back in the cosy hotel .
