Blue skies and green grass again at Claremont!

This morning  we made a visit to Claremont NT gardens with the family getting there when the gates opened! The car park was full when we left around 1200!
We visited a few weeks ago before we had had any rain and it was so dry and parched so we were pleased to see most of the grass has recovered now.

We did a circuit round the lake with a detour to a part that very few people seem to go to where we usually have a quick rest to give the children a snack…eg a muesli bar…and play hide and seek around the trees. I am always amazed that most families seem to spend a lot of time in the small playground near the cafe rather than walk though the gardens. The grandchildren have been there so many times now and are beginning to learn some of the trees. They love going through the big bamboo and some of the very old rhododendrons have such thick trunks/ stems that they can climb on them which they enjoy more than the crowded climbing structure in the playground! ( There are no signs saying you shouldn’t climb like in some places).

Although it was sunny while we were there, and some people were sitting in the deckchairs by the lake, it clouded over when we got home for lunch.
