Peel Park / 'Moonage Daydream'

I love the changing of the seasons: each one arrives as if it's my absolute favourite. And so it was, today, with this chilly, sunny, autumnal morning. Just perfect. 

I took this photo as I was on my way across to the university pool for a pre-work swim, and Peel Park was looking beautiful. And then, of course, there was the bliss of the post-swim walk home, marred only by the queue of students waiting for the Costa Express machine. I guess I'd better get used to that.

And after work, the Minx and I went to The Everyman to see the David Bowie (not really a) biopic, 'Moonage Daydream', which is a collage of film and music detailing Bowie's stunning musical career. It was, by turns, excellent and irritating. The kaleidoscopic nature of the film worked really well at times. In fact, most of the time, although at others it was a bit of a mess.

The film mostly focuses on Bowie's work between Ziggy Stardust and 'Let's Dance', drifting forward through time, while the clips oscillate around that chronological locus, which is at times illuminating but, at others, irritating. The use of film clips also blurs the distinction between the actual acting and Bowie portraying versions of himself. I guess that works if you know your Bowie. 

And, ultimately, I'd take that as the criterion for whether to see it or not: if you are a fan, then do.
