Late Streptocarpus

Rather a quiet day after our long walk yesterday! The weather  was not nearly as good today.
This  evening I attended  a Parish Council  meeting to hear  a presentation by a property developing company  regarding a large, open green space in the parish, on which they would like  to build  houses.  There was a reasonable  turn out of local residents, and those I spoke to afterwards, were not impressed by the  three speakers, despite their protestations that  they weren't  like the big builders, and any development would be sensitively done, be sustainable , carbon neutral etc, etc. They wouldn't  be drawn on how many houses they  proposed, and glossed over the need for increased infrastructure such as drainage, and sewerage. Fortunately, at present at least,  this green field site is not included in the Local SHELAA (Strategic Housing and Economic Land Availability Assessment), but I fear it is only a matter of time before the site is sold  to a developer and, with the threat of weakened planning restrictions, becomes a housing estate, especially as I don't have a lot of confidence in the Parish Councillors. If the local residents could buy the land that would  save it, but it's  valued at £4 million so that seems unlikely.
My blip is of my Streptocarpus house plants which I am pleased to have  still flowering.
