Birthday Brother

In the absence of a worthy blip  today of all days, the 4 score years birthday of my wee brother, I give you my pan of yet more spicy apple and butternut squash soup, it’s the least I could  do in celebration.

We siblings has an early phone call on wires stretching from the SW of England all the way to Edinburgh. He was on good form having had a surprise party yesterday organised by his children and grandchildren despite having said it was just another birthday and he was going to lock himself in the bathroom with a book. I get the feeling he was delighted with it all.

Later, I had a tram journey to make to the Wild West of Edinburgh this morning to check on my school friend who has been in hospital. Despite all the negativity associated with the trams, it is the best way to travel across our grid locked city. When finally the line is open to Leith, we will be liberated to travel to the north of the city without the roadworks which have blighted our lives for years. It was refreshing today to get out of the city centre and it’s busy pavements to suburbia and better still find my friend in good form.
