Grey Horse

Grey Horse

We rushed around and did the usual DIY stuff this morning. I mended the old garage doors with metal plates and bolts as they were starting to warp, Bob the painter painted the new garage doors, which are now an interesting blue/marine green sort of colour, and M finished off whatever she was doing. "Lets go for a cycle ride, en famille", I said. To my surprise everyone bought into this, which was most likely due to the unusually warm weather and nice sunshine. So, we went over to our old haunt of Rowlands Gill and cycled up the old railway line.

The whole world was there !! We have never seen so many cars in that area and could not work out what was going on? Was it just one of those unusual 'Lemming like days' when everyone spontaneously decides to do exactly the same thing, or was there a fantastic event occurring that only we, did not know about. this is usually the case - as we do not read the local paper. Well, it did not matter really, as we found a parking space and then unloaded the bikes and had a lovely ride up the line.

Around a third of the way along we came across this grey horse. We did not have any food or polo mints unfortunately, so just said hello and took a picture. It was a nice friendly horse and typified the sunny day in the countryside.

Hopefully, the start of many more cycle rides in the countryside.
