Between fen and mountains

Les Thermes

This is a good place to go for a bit of therapeutic rest and relaxation. Vernet is famous for its Thermes and you can still get sent here on the French National Health Service. It is next to a rather beautiful park and it is particularly pleasant with the blossom still out.
Vernet's hot spring waters emerge at temperatures between 38°C and 66°C. They are rich in sulphur, sodium and silicates and contain numerous trace elements (such as iron and manganese). They also contain a "thermal plankton" (called "Vernetine") which facilitates massage and which is good for the skin. Treatments using the hot spring water (known as cures) are recommended for people with respiratory or rheumatic conditions. The health centre offers a range of such treatments. It caters for children and adults and it is open from mid-March to mid-November.
