This way to Gardening
I headed to Bents after breakfast to buy some more (peat free) compost, as I still have bulbs to plant in containers.
Bents calls itself a garden centre, but in truth (and especially at this time of year) gardening is a minor sideline. Much of the store is one huge Christmas emporium, and it’s also a place for people to meet up and chinwag over a drink or a meal. More department store than garden centre. It’s also popular - the car parks seemed almost full. The small garden part of the store was quiet though.
Gardening is consigned to one short end of the big glasshouse attached to the main building. I wasn’t in long, purchasing three bags of compost and some cyclamen for the garden, and then headed to the till. Predictably the family in front of me were purchasing Christmas baubles and fluffy toys. It’s far too early for me to be thinking about any of that, we’re still in the first week of November and a long way from Advent.
