Don't want to rest
I had Kyro sleeping upstairs near my bed. He's not certain of stairs yet, so did help him with the harness. We're lucky we have deep treads which make a gentle incline. He settled on the dog bed with a deep sigh and slept well during the night, which meant I did too. Only aware of him waking up, moving around and settling back down quietly.
I took him in the garden at 7.30 and shut him in the living room while I dressed and put washing out. Made his breakfast which he wolfed down.
About an hour after his breakfast we walked to town, him pulling all the way. I stopped at a small park to give him a drink which he wasn't interested in as two small dogs were playing. He is keen in a prey-drive sense on small pets and we were warned to be careful. I'm confident this will alter in time.
Getting in training on 'wait' and 'cross' along the way. I took him to the market where stallholders Kevin and Chris both made a fuss of him. He was good and didn't steal anything. Passing Sainsbury's Eamon, Irish Big Issue seller gave him several kisses.
We had a short break on Jesus Green as my knees wanted one and his pulling was less intense. But as you can see in the blip he was still pulling my arm round the bench.
The lead was less taut on the way home and he was slowing down a bit. We encountered neighbourhood dog walkers who welcomed him.
At home he flopped on his bed with a sigh. And after his lunch sat next to me on the sofa.
In fact now at 8pm on the sofa I'm looking at a grey head with velvety ears where he's propped his head against my thigh. Just like Murray used to do.
I texted Sue at the Suffolk Retired Greyhound Trust kennel to let her know how he was settling. She was pleased and sent a cuddle.
It's been a brilliant first day. The first of many.
Pleasant evening everyone.
