Incongruous
This is an old Edward 7th pillar box - he reigned straight after Victoria, until 1910. So it dates back to well before the Irish Republic was formed.
An Post has green as it's "colour". So they've adopted this pillar box on the street alongside the river in Dublin and painted it green. I don't suppose it is the only one, but it's the first I've spotted. To my eyes, it looks quite incongruous. I thought of you, Bivbov.
The day started with W spending a lot of time looking for his "English" mobile - including removing everything from the suitcase, and repacking it. I eventually found it - put away carefully in a drawer in the room we are using as a combined office and sewing room.
We got a taxi, in the rain, to Oranmore train station. Fortunately, by the time we were standing on the rather bleak platform the rain had stopped.
A smooth and uneventful journey to Dublin.
And fine weather in Dublin, so we decided to walk to the hotel. Not the most exciting walk, though some of it was alongside the river Liffey, and once again, Google maps managed to lose us - we have bought quite cheap phones - maybe the GPS function isn't up to scratch. Anyway, despite walking an extra kilometre or so, we did eventually find the hotel.
But by then we'd had enough of the crowds and the traffic, and retreated to our room for some down time.
Later we walked a short distance down the road to a rather more upmarket restaurant than we are used to frequenting. But the meal was lovely.
