Backblip 5

After the recent gloomy wet weather, blue sky and sunshine today seemed a real tonic, and we had a magical walk on the beach from Newton Steads to Low Newton. It was warm enough to sit on the beach in a sheltered cove to eat our picnic lunch, and to sit outside at the Ship where we stopped for refreshment before walking back!

As the sun went down the sea was intensely blue, and the golden sun reflected on the clouds and on the sand. I love this shot with the little birds - sanderlings and purple sandpipers - skittering back and forth along the shore line.

A little later we enjoyed a roast dinner at the Oaks in Alnwick before driving home for an evening in front of the fire, watching a film.
