Glengoyne Distillery
I popped out for a run, this morning, taking a route down Hope Street to the river, and then east into Glasgow Green, before heading north and west back to the hotel. Cobwebs thus cleared, I met up with Ash, and we walked down to Browns where we all had breakfast.
We like to have an activity each day, and today we had booked a tour at the Glengoyne Distillery, which is about half an hour's drive outside of Glasgow. I have to say that the tour, delivered by a young woman called Rebekah, was a vast improvement on the one we did in Edinburgh, although, to be fair, that was a much younger distillery, that had yet to publish any whisky.
And after the tour, there was a tasting session with twelve, eighteen, and twenty-one year old expressions. The presence of 'matched' chocolates proved transformative to both Bob and Ross's whisky appreciation, as did Rebekah's advice to take three sips, the first of these getting you over the attack of the whisky's strength.
As I was driving, I couldn't join in, but I was provided with three little bottles that I could take my whiskies home in. I did, however, eat the chocolates :-)
And in the evening, we tried a few more pubs before coming to rest at a restaurant called The Ubiquitous Chip, which was another great choice by Bob; the food was fantastic.
