Gloom in the Glen
We left Nethy Bridge at 9.45 this morning and headed in a vaguely south-westerly direction, through Newtonmore, past Loch Laggan, Spean Bridge and into Fort William, by which time the skies were grey and misty and the rain had begun.
After a brief stop we continued to Glencoe where we'd planned to have lunch in the NTS Visitor Centre. The beginnings of the Glen were dark and cloudy and it was easy to imagine the dark deeds of 1692, the famous Massacre! A turf house has been constructed to approximate the dwellings of the Macdonald's of that date. This is my Blip for today. I was quite surprised to be recognised by a member of staff in the café even though we'd met at an NTS Health & Safety meeting many years ago!
We carried on, stopping briefly at a craft fair in Duror, and arrived home in a wet Oban just before 3pm. A great holiday - now back to wet and windy west coast weather!
