Christmas fairs
Yesterday a friend and l went down to the east end of London to the Finnish and Norwegian churches to their Christmas fair. The Finnish one was very busy and we queued for a long time to get in but the Norwegian one was not nearly so busy. We stopped and had a hot glogg (mulled wine ) and a freshly made warm cinnamon bun (main blip). There are always lots of Scandanavian goodies for sale, food and decorations, the extra is of a happy pair selling some decorations, they apologised for not being in national costume but admitted the costumes were getting a bit tight - too many cinnamon buns!
The second extra was taken in the Norwegian church. It is a 'votive' ship or church ship, usually made by sailors as thanks for safe returns from journeys at sea, they also symbolise the congregation being steered safely through life.
