In the city

Well, Canberra is not a very big city. But it's a lot bigger than Lennox Head. And it now has a light rail system. At least, it has the start of a system - at the moment it's just one 12 km route, with the second line being built. 

We sold our Canberra house 3 years ago and the light rail has opened since then. It became an issue in a Territory election during construction, when one major political party promised to cancel the contract. Unsurprisingly, they lost votes. The system seems to be popular and successful. It carried 4 million passengers in its first year of operation. That's 10 times the population of Canberra.
