International AIDS awareness day

I went to art appreciation today (not only for the talk I must confess - I was looking forward to a nice warm room too). However the heating wasn’t working so I sat in my big coat throughout. As it was the last meeting of the year everyone had sent in photos for “love it or loathe it” choices. Before they started Ros put up this slide of a beautiful sculpture in Brighton erected to commemorate the victims of Aids. The sculptor’s partner died from it in the 1990s. I like the shape which is almost like a heart and apparently the shadow makes the shape of the red aids awareness ribbon.

I hadn’t been sent the instructions about sending in my choices but it took so long to get through everyone’s it was just as well. The loathes were quite predictable - Lucien Freud, Tracy Emin, Francis Bacon. Some of the loved were more unusual - a beautiful example of Islamic art was one. It was all very interesting and enjoyable if it hadn’t been so cold.

I walked home at a good pace to try to warm up.

Mr C had got ointment to put on the lesions on his head. He has struggled all day with the Ghana visa. For instance it asked how much funds we’d have. He put in £ and it rejected it. Then he put in more. Still rejected. Then he tried dollars. Then I converted pounds to Ghanaian currency and it rejected it. Then he put in a random number with no symbols and it worked. This sort of thing happened in almost every box in 6 pages. Finally it was done and it wouldn’t upload to their site. I think we are going to have to go to London to get it in person.

Tonight we went to Linda and Colin’s for supper. It was lovely to catch up and eat her delicious food.
