Day 2 in the hospital
This is a late posting.
After a long, restless night my brother and sister went to get coffee and croissants for our breakfast. They were very welcome.
Eventually the doctors arrived and examined Mum and we were able to ask questions. As a result, another saline solution bag was hooked up and Mum was soon being rehydrated again. She was obviously irritated with the oxygen tube in her nose, so it was agreed that could be removed. She was still “nill by mouth” though as she still can’t swallow.
Mr MacD arrived then my brother-in-law, P, and aunt. P, MrMacD and I went out to get some fresh air and move our cars. While we were out Mum was moved into yet another room, this time in the Clinical Decision Unit, and moved onto a bed with a lovely soft mattress that gently vibrates, keeping her circulation going. Mr MacD and I returned to the hospital, said goodbye to P and my aunt, then MrMacD and my brother went out for a coffee and something to eat. They returned with coffee and a muffin for me - delicious.
MrMacD and I left at 3:30pm to go home, as my brother and sister were doing the night shift. I was able to have a lovely hot shower and sleep all night in my own bed. Bliss!
Mum is being kept comfortable and it is a case of waiting for nature to take its course. She tries to communicate - some words we can make out, others are impossible and she nods and shakes her head to indicate yes or no.
Whilst we were in the Domain I took a photo of ducks sleeping on the grass beside the duck pond, and an Eastern Rosella pecking for food on the grass.
