Just hatched

I've had a mental day, work all day, walked the dogs, then came to find that my beautiful little call duck who had been sitting on 9 eggs for the last week had been eaten by hoodie crows! So sad! She was a lovely tame thing full of character and I'm not happy at all with the crows! On a brighter note, I discovered the first two chicks (Barnevelder or crosses) which I took into the house until the rest have hatched, and then they'll be smuggled back under their mother hen. They are currently in a box next to my desk with a lamp and chirping away.

Had Sonja's concert to go to in the evening which was completely amazing, hearing her play her fiddle in a big orchestra like that was something else and a very proud moment.

Failed at my challenge today ("refreshing") but didn't have a moment spare to come up with something. I think these little fluffballs will do for today though :)
