A Star is Born
We travelled up to Oldham today, to watch grandson One in a school play.
Despite my efforts yesterday the windscreen washers had not defrosted. The journey was not too bad, the temperature never got above zero and we had to stop several times to wipe the windows.
We did arrive in time to pickup a pair of granddaughters, six and eight years old, neither of whom knew we were coming. Lots of excitement at seeing their grandma, squeals and shouts and laughing; they eventually noticed I was there too.
We all went to grandsons school, mob handed. I think he was only expecting his mum but the whole family of five plus us two we sitting a couple of rows back from the front dead centre. He saw us quite quickly but it did not phase him.
He had three roles, apple seller, random New Yorker and President Roosevelt. He had his own lines and sang and danced as part of the group. This from the lad who is always quiet, shy and never never wants to be the centre of attention. He might not have been officially the star of the show but he was our star. A few tears were shed my various family members, including myself.
A long trip but worth it
