Mothers Day Plant
A lazy Mothers Day blip of a plant my wife received at church. It is only 43F (7C) outside, and extremely windy. A good day to have an inside dinner, and then to lounge around and watch a little golf.
Lisa (my wife) outdid herself at dinner today. Roast beef, mashed potatoes, carrots, crescent rolls, a fruit salad, and a watermelon. Coupled with a salad from my sister-in-law, and a cauliflower casserole and corn from my sister...made for a pretty scrumptious meal. Banana cake, and my oatmeal-orange cookies for dessert. My mom would have been proud.
Every month, we have family dinner. And, every month we all appreciate how much work my mom did to prepare. It's been over 5 years now that she has been gone. That's 62 family dinners, and every month we miss her.
I have a rough time even going to church. I'm overjoyed at the stories from the children on why their mother is the best...but...I'm sad that my mother isn't there. She always showed up at church in her Sunday finest...complete with a flowery hat.
James Michener wrote in his book Centennial...Only the rocks live forever. I realize that nobody lives on this Earth forever...but on this special day...on a weekend in May...I wish I could say..."Mom...I love you."
Happy Mothers Day to all of you mothers. So richly deserved.
