Currant/gooseberry prunings

Nearly mid-January, definitely OK to prune my redcurrant, whitecurrant, pink currant and gooseberry plants now. 7 in total and a big pile of (some thorny) branches. 

I've planted more daffodils in that area (so late, I know!) and piled the pruned branches on top, in the hope it protects some of the bulbs from the pesky critters around the allotment site!
