Sunday: The Mall

Sadly, P’s visit also came to an end today.  She stayed on a week longer after J but today we ran her up to the airport in Belize City and she’s now on her way to Vancouver.  It’s been great having our first visitors - showing friends around makes you feel you belong.

On the way home we stopped off at ‘The Mall’, one of the three grocery stores in town, for supplies (hence the blip).  We had a quiet afternoon, but an eventful evening.

We were just about to have dinner when we got a call to say that one of our guards had collapsed in the guard hut.  She was quite unresponsive so we called an ambulance.  I went off to the hospital with her, and waited for her husband, whom I called en route.  She’s doing ok, but her blood pressure was extremely high.  Anyway, I spoke to her and she’s going to be fine - they’re just keeping her in for observation.

In true ‘everyone knows everyone’ fashion in Belize, the dispatcher when we called the ambulance was our housekeeper, Lily.  We had no idea she volunteered!
