Halfway To Paradise

Billy Fury - somewhat overshadowed by a certain pop group from Liverpool but, in his day, he was right up there with Elvis and Cliff in terms of popularity and record sales.
Our trip to Liverpool was not quite the day we had planned. Due to a spectacular lack of forward planning on my part, we turned up at the British Music Experience, only to find it is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. Not sure if we’ll be able to get down again before our tickets expire but, if we do, I’ll make sure it’s on a day when the exhibition is actually open!
Deciding to make the most of it, we went for a walk around the docks, where we found the statue of the man who was born Ronald Wycherley, and worked there as a docker before being “discovered” by Larry Parnes, who changed his name and made him a pop star.
As it was still cold, we didn’t linger by the river and headed into town for some retail therapy. And, unusually for me, I found some “end of sale” bargains - about £80 worth of gym gear for under thirty quid!
Throw in a very nice lunch and a pleasant evening chilling out in front of the telly, and it turned out to be not such a bad day after all.
