A bitterly cold, windy day.
I left the thermostat set at 70 F last night but when I got up this morning it had dropped to 61 F. I have oil baseboard heating on the main and lower levels. The heaters were warm, but I had not heard the furnace come on. Since the downstairs roommate is not there, I went down and checked the thermostat in his room and when I turned it up, the furnace came on. Even though the tag on the electric fireplace says not to plug it in to an extension cord or to a power bar, I plugged it in to a power bar, as the cord is not long enough to reach the wall. It gives off some heat, but not a lot, not unless you are right beside it. It took 8 hours for the room to warm from 61 to 68 F. Finally around 5 pm, the landlord arrived to replace the thermostat. As soon as he hooked the new one up, the furnace came on, so that must have been the problem.
Other people had birds at the feeders today. I had one goldfinch come for a couple of minutes, then he left and there has been no activity at the feeders all day. All I have for today is this photo of Peaches, having a nap on her chair.
The temperature is supposed to go back up tomorrow and be above freezing in the afternoon. I am hoping that my truck starts in the morning. I will have to go out around 9 am and check it, if it doesn't start, I will have to call CAA so I can go to brunch.
