Diary of an Edinburgher

By LadyMarchmont

Pip came for the day. Also, the window cleaner. So I had to keep the two dogs out in the back garden - they could not sit in lounge and a) see the window cleaner up a ladder at Hazel’s flat opposite, and b) see him then climb up in front of our windows.

I was also expecting a chap to fix our shower floor. He’s done it before, a couple of years ago. It’s the craziest material to use for a shower floor - there can be absolutely NO cleaning fluids at all reach it - it leaves brown stains. So even if towels are placed around, while the grouting is cleaned, some of it, inevitably, will reach the floor. Of course, we did not realise this when we chose it.

However, this chap is a magician. He uses wee pottles of this and that, and does not give up. And he’s done it!

JR took the doggies out in the morning, and I took them out in the afternoon. Pip, if he doesn’t fancy going one way, will just flatly refuse. End of story. Change direction. I hope he doesn’t give Archie ideas…

Getting a comfy seat is priority for the dogs. Pip plopped himself on my lap, and Archie came along, too late. He stared and glowered at Pip, hoping he’d take the hint and move. But no. He stood there for ages, and I could see he was thinking about squeezing in beside Pip. The drama was resolved when the postman came, and both dogs rushed to bark at the door. Archie nipped back to his comfy place first, and Pip had to go to the other sofa. They’re a funny pair!
