Everyday I Write The Book

A slice of history

Brilliant production at the Noel Coward Theatre in St Martin’s lane. Zachary Quinto of Heroes and Star Trek fame played Gore Vidal going up against William F Buckley in a series of highly polarised debates in 1968 that spoke volumes about the state of the American nation then and that has a shocking level of relevance to the mess we are in today.

What I love most about theatre is the way, it focuses your attention in a way that television and digital media cannot. You have to sit there and take it in, to focus on what is happening. There is none of the laziness that goes with digital media. It’s a raw, immediate, disciplined experience.

Ed Milliband was in the audience wearing a hideous two tone blue jumper. And I was sitting next to Simon Callow’s son (although he tried to deny it - but then he would wouldn’t he?).

Earlier in the day we spent a fab couple of hours with The Dizzle and prior to that celebrated TSM’s new Frank Bowling turning up from King And McGraw. We also found our passports after a long search. Curiously enough, they were in a box marked important documents. Never thought to look for them there.

Sad news today. One of our neighbours in the retirement flats died suddenly overnight, a sweet, elderly Scottish man.
