Garlanded
I was feeling a bit out of sorts today. When I'm feeling this way I always head back to The Friars (our local Carmelite Priory). It's just so peaceful, restful and immediately induces a sense of calm.
I strolled around the grounds and along the Rosary Way and then saw this statue outside one of the chapels had had a garland of fresh roses placed around it. The light was lovely and really accentuated the colours of the roses. I was going to get a shot of the whole statue but when I looked closer I could see the stone carved roses clasped by that beautifully sculpted hand and decided to go for this close-up viewpoint.
As always after a walk around The Friars I felt much more rested and a lot less discombobulated.
The rest of the day was quiet until I had to pick up my brother from the station and we stopped off at The King & Kven for our usual Friday night pint on the way home. After dinner I then had to go out again for a Maltesers meet up. We hadn't met up since before Christmas so it was so great to see everyone again.
To my delight, alongside the regulars, Renee was there. She had a stroke last year and I'd only spoken to her a few times over the phone since, which is never the same. She almost appeared back to her old self but she is still having a little trouble with her walking. It was so great to see her and I made sure to give her a huge hug. We all had a great chinwag and plenty of laughs.
