Friends …

… for dinner

This is a slightly late posting.

It was lovely to see the sunshine again this morning.  We had breakfast then went out for our walk.  It was very hot and humid so definitely a slower pace than usual.  We had coffee after returning home then showered and changed.  After a light lunch we went out to do some shopping, top of the list being coffee and a couple of items for tonight’s dinner.  Our friends were bringing nibbles, we had soup in the fridge, the main course was salmon and I was in charge of making coleslaw and pudding.  Somehow the time flew by and before we knew it, it was 6:30pm and our friends were knocking at the door.  We hadn’t seen them since October, so had a lot to catch up on.  The evening flew by and by the time they left it was after 10pm.  We had a big tidy up, put the dishwasher on and fell into bed around 11pm.  Hence the late posting.

The Gisborne area, Wairoa and Hawke’s Bay are still in an extremely bad situation, with no power, resulting in no communications.  We sent messages through to several friends and actually got short response back from two of them.  They will all be conserving their battery power.

We’ve walked past the flamingo many times, but today I decided to take a photo.  The nibbles our friends brought were so beautifully presented I had to photograph them, and the sunset seemed especially pretty last night - one view to the west and one view to the east.

Apologies, I'm still way behind, but I'll do my best to catch up soon - too much socialising!!
