No one died

This is me putting things into perspective.
No one died (yet)
If I don’t get Covid, then no one was injured (yet)
WOW how many things can go wrong????

A lot. 

And I would tell you, but it might frighten you (I did decide that, while everything degenerated into the Kafka-esque (someone else’s description) that I was safe. And when the campground was not “glamping” and involved a roach, mosquitos, unlit tents, unlit and dirty bathrooms, and no lighting or signs to help you FIND the bathroom or your way back to your tent, I, along with the rest of the tour, demanded to be taken to a hotel. This would have been fine had it been what we were promised and expecting, but it was not. 

On the plus side, I got to sit next to the driver’s six year old son for the trip inside the park. His son was very shy but well behaved. The other tour members were incredibly fun and all decided I secretly work for the FBI. They were all English, so I got to hear their take on American politics. 

We saw giraffes, lions, kudu, impalas, warthogs, various birds, more rhinos than you can possibly imagine, and a hippo. Everything except the hippo - we saw REALLY CLOSE UP. They were in the road, crossing the road, next to the road. Not all of them, but some of each of them, again, except for the hippo. The hippo disappeared and then kindly reappeared and provided reasonable photo opportunities. One of the kudu was male and horny and that was fascinating because none of his harem were interested (see extra). We saw a baby rhino, baby impalas, and a baby warthog. We’ve seen many weaver nests and weavers (see extra). 

The kudu had birds helping them with annoying insects, which is what you see in the main. 

I loved photographing everything. 

Except for the morning and the evening it was absolutely lovely. 

The rest of the group is canceling the tour tomorrow so I’ll get the guide and shuttle all to myself, just me, the guide/driver, and his shy son. The focus will be hippos, alligators, and continuing to try for the ever elusive leopard. 

Also nice, I’m in a room with a door and a bed and electric lights and free wifi. I’m sitting on a chair and everything.
