The Woodland Garden (Sunday 19th February 2023)

Yesterday afternoon I made the short drive to Black Dog Hill for some gentle exercise although it wasn't entirely successful. A footpath was unusable due to fallen timber and quagmire, involving a lengthy detour, and photographic attempts all failed due to two unrelated memory card problems.

My camera bag was unduly heavy as along with the cardless camera I'd also left my iPad in it. I could have used its camera to snap the river, wild snowdrops and curious sheep had I been aware of the other SD card's failure.

I was halted by a barking black dog as I approached Black Dog Halt, and a stepped path up to the old railway cycle path was in such a bad state of repair that I reported it to the council this morning.

In the Woodland Garden some crocuses and narcissi are starting to appear and more hellebores are coming up all the time. Luckily I had got some shots at lunchtime.

Lozarhythm Of The Day:
Yoko Ono and the Plastic Ono Band - Why Not (recorded October 1970, Abbey Road Studios)
The 90th birthday of Yoko Ono occurred on 18 February and as I did not blip on that day, this is a belated celebration of Yoko Ono, taken from her album Yoko Ono/Plastic Ono Band with some fantastic accompaniment from a couple of Beatles (John and Ringo) and honorary member Klaus Voorman (bass). I was never a Yoko-hater who thought she split up the Beatles or John Lennon's marriage. As an art student I had bought her book Grapefruit and had actually been to a Yoko Ono "happening" at an arts centre in Birmingham in October 1967,  before she had got together with John Lennon. Later I bought this magnificent vinyl album in Wolverhampton on its day of release.
To mark her ninetieth, Radio 4's Archive On 4 slot broadcast a special edition presented by Jennifer Lucy Allan entitled Oh Yoko! Recommended if interested.
