Blue feet

I’ve spent today moving books, moving more books . . . and finding fascinating books that I had forgotten we had. The job isn’t finished yet, but I’m getting there.

In a break I was watching birds on the feeders. Our Woodpecker is a regular, but I was interested in the little Coal Tit. We never see more than one Coal Tit at a time and they don’t go on the feeder when there are other birds there, instead waiting, as in the photo, until there is a gap and then darting in and out very quickly. I have just read that this is because they take food away and store it for later. I didn’t know that.
